You will visit the impressive historic farmsteads of the Black Forest, along with old mills, sawmills and barns, and discover what life, living and working in the region was like for the past 600 years. In the open-air museum, you will immerse yourself in authentic traditional rural life, exploring the culture and rich history of the area.

You’ll tour historic houses where you can still smell the scent of the last fire burning, and discover stables housing ancient breeds of domestic animals. In the nearby meadows, sheep, goats and chickens graze freely, giving you a unique experience of the rural environment of the Black Forest.

Day 1 - Visit to the Black Forest Farmhouses

As you enter the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum farmsteads, you will be greeted by imposing wooden buildings dating back centuries. Each of the farmhouses has been carefully transported from different parts of the Black Forest and reconstructed in great detail.

The tour takes you through different styles of farmhouses, from the simplest to the most elaborate, reflecting the architectural evolution and changes in farming techniques over time.
